General Status Check1). Homefront is at 98,259. I'll most likely break 100,000 words today or tomorrow. So far, during the holidays, I've written 20,513 words. Not as much as I'd hoped to do, but satisfying enough. 2). I've decided to call the 'What Rough Beast' series 'Soft Rains'. A thousand quatlous to anyone who gets the references. Katherine, you can't play, cause I know you'll get at least one of them. The outline (very rough outline) stands at 1212 words and lays out a total of twelve novels. I've even got them divided by what I think will make nice Omnibus titles. 3). I still haven't given much thought to the M.M. (yes, that's an abreviation) series. Partly, that's because I know I'm going to work on Soft Rains next. Partly it's because I'm not sure which route I want to take it. It could work as a series of short action/adventure novels in the old Buck Rogers/Flash Gordon style, or it could work as something else... I suppose the question should be, how much energy am I willing to devote to something that won't bring in very much money, which 'else' most certainly won't. On the other hand, 'else' could be a lot more fun to write than old school space opera, and if I take the 'else' approach, I could work it into a series of novellas and novellets. I probably have a good 18 months to decide, so it's not to pressing an issue. 4). I've got mixed feelings about starting back to school. On the one hand, I really enjoy it. On the other, I didn't get very much writing done, and my course load is going to be even heavier this semester. I want to finish Homefront before it gets stale. 5). The slush pile continues to have Zero appeal. 6). I miss the Chow Hound. A lot. 7). Still no word on Battlestar Galactica 2003. I want this to go to series, a lot. 8). Shakira still kicks ass. I am sorely tempted to get all her Spanish language albums. Who gives a frell if I can understand them. 9). I love Kipling, but damn it, I want my Tenysson. 10). I need to read more Bradbury. The man is a god.
