Meredith MacKenzie and the Uruk Empire Take 3

Right now, I'm working on the third draft of my second novel, Meredith MacKenzie and the Uruk Empire. I've finished 8 chapters, which works out to around 26K words, about 20K of which is new material. Pretty much the entire front half of the novel is being rewritten, while the back half will remain pretty much intact, though some of the subplots will get a bit more emphasis than before.

I'm actually enjoying reworking the story, but I'm running up against a problem a lot of part time writers have.

Lack of freaking time.

Seriously, I'm on vacation until the 20th, but I've got time issues. I'm trying to get through Lyda Morehouse's Archangel Protocol series. Trying to do some writing, I've got a stack of old Doctor Who series I really want to watch (the Seventh Doctor's entire run). A couple of other things I want to work on, and I'm trying to get Katherine to watch the first couple of seasons of Supernatural.

Ugh. I feel kind of swamped at the moment. Which is ironic, considering that I wrote the first draft of Uruk Empire during semester.

I'm beginning to think I'm more productive when I'm on a regular schedule, than when I'm on vacation.
