Well, Eric Flint and Baen books must be doing something right. The Grantville Gazette just became what I think is the first fanzine to not online be edited by the creator of the setting, but to have contributions from the creator of the setting, and be a SFWA pro market.

In short, what started as an experiment by Eric Flint and Jim Baen has turned into a second online, bimonthly magazine for Baen. The The Grantville Gazette and Jim Baen's Universe will alternate months. The Gazette in January, March, May, July, September and November and Universe in February, April, June, August, October and December.

This should be interesting to watch.

I don't know what they used to pay, but...

Marian Zimmer Bradley used to edit a fanzine set in her universe.
