73540 words, a new project and a passing.Meredith Mackenzie and the Uruk Empire is just chugging right along. As the title of this post suggests, I've hit 73,540 words. Not bad for a month and a half, all things considered. I also wrote a big scene today. I think it turned out well, but I'll be damned if it wasn't draining. Tomorrow, I get to start with a short bridge scene, then it's on to another big scene. After that, it's almost pure carnage for a good 20K plus words. Then the big wrap up. Unfortunately, I might not have a lot of time to write over the course of the next week. Also, I've settled on my next project and have even started doing some of the prelims. I've got my major characters, I've got a couple of the supporting characters. I've got the milleu. It's something I mentioned here previously in passing. A superhero concept. I'd originally planned to approach it as a graphic novel, but I think I can bring it off as a plain old novel. What's more, it should be a hell of a lot of fun to write, because the characters going to be fun, and the situation is going to be fun. The first book in the series will probably be titled "We're Here to Help You" and will be started immediately on finishing Uruk Empire, if not sooner. Finally, in much, much less happy news, Michael Pillar died at the age of 57. Michael, along with Ron Moore, was responsible for Deep Space Nine, but more importantly, at least to me, he's responsible for the "The Dead Zone" TV series, which is one of my favorite.
