Several thingsMan, I've been busy. Let's see. Meredeth MacKenzie and the Uruk Empire is now at 56K words. So far, I've let three people read it and they have all declared it 'really good'. One was even 'surprised at how good it is'. Which makes me feel a bit better. I've been worrying that it's a bit talky. Today, however, I actually get to Someone has volunteered to do a first read and line edit on Homefront in exchange for credit. This is good because 1). It desperately needs to be proofread, 2). The price is about what I can afford to pay. Once the proofread is done, and assuming she doesn't suggest any major edits, I do still need to get someone with a military background to give it a read and call bullshit on any mistakes regarding the military stuff. I'm hoping to get Homefront into the slush pile by the end of November. Finally, and this is huge news. Jim Baen asked me to write an article on Terraforming Mars for his new magazine, Baen's Astounding Stories (Edit: Link Updated). I'm extremely excited. Of course, the absolute earliest the article would appear would be June, which is when the first issue hits, and it's more likely to be the second or third issue, but it will still give me something for my cover letter on Homefront and it is a professional writing credit.
